Day 2 Better Parenting Challenge 2016

Gestures

Today you are going to develop a set of positive gestures to encourage and support your child.

Some examples of positive hand gestures are the thumbs up, the ok sign (meaning they're right on track), the high five and high ten raised hand/s, the opening of the palms to welcome and even waving and clapping.

Choose one of these and whenever you see your child doing something positive today, give him or her your wide smile and a positive hand gesture. When you do this you'll find that your child will be much more happier and confident and will respond to you better.

Just so you can be aware of the negative gestures, I'll give some examples here: the thumbs down, the closed fist and shaking of the fist and pointing at your child. Avoid using these as they are discouraging and threatening.

Your action today is to start practicing using positive hand gestures to make it a habit for encouragin your child.
