Ramadan Parenting Challenge Day 5: Remember Allah and Do Thinkr

Ramadan Parenting Challenge 2014
So remember Me, and I shall remember you (Qur’an 2: 152).

The more we remember Allah then the more we shall be rewarded. Keep in mind that any good deeds done in Ramadan is multiplied. Prophet Muhammad (s) told the companions that if they say “Subhanallah” (glory to Allah) one hundred times then they will get 1000 good deeds written or 1000 sins wiped away (Muslim 4: 2073).

For parents who are stressed and anxious over their children, the only solace is found in remembering Allah. When your child does not listen to you or your teenager is obnoxious, do not despair but turn to Allah, make thikr and dua. Allah says in the Qur’an: Verily in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find ease (Qur’an 13: 28)

This is an example of a thikr to learn to say when overwhelmed by a problem:  Allah suffices us and He is the best guardian (Abu Dawood). As with reading the Qur’an, saying these types of thikr must be in Arabic.

Challenge for today is to:
  1.            Say “Subhanallah” one hundred times.
  2.            Learn a thikr for overcoming a problem, distress or hardship (search the Arabic online).
Do these and keep them going during Ramadan.
