Ramadan Parenting Challenge Day 4: Make Dua For Your Children

Ramadan Parenting Challenge 2014
Call unto Me and I will respond to you. (Qur’an, 40:60)
Dua is a tool that all Muslims have. It is especially more powerful in Ramadan as Prophet Muhammad (s) said, “There are three whose dua is not rejected: the just ruler, the fasting person until he breaks his fast, and the supplication of the oppressed person.” (Narrated by Abu Huraira in Ibn Majah and Ahmad)

As you fast each day, do not forget to make dua for your children for Allah will accept this dua.  In another narration, Prophet Muhammad (s) said, “The supplications of three persons are accepted: a parent, a traveler and one who is wronged.” (Ahmad, Abu Dawwod, Tirmidhi)

Sometimes we think that we are at the end of our rope and have no hope or resources to get us through difficult and trying times, such as when our lovely child turns into a rebellious teenager. But the truth is that we all have the power of the dua. Allah is waiting for us to call on Him for help.

The dua has the ability to change lives and it is free. So there is no excuse for not making dua for your children. It is a powerful tool for parents. Take advantage of it. During this time ask for goodness for your children.

Below is a classic dua that you could use. It is the dua of Prophet Ibrahim (a). Learn it in Arabic: “O my Lord! Make me one who establishes regular prayer and also raise such among my offspring. O our Lord! And accept my dua.” (Qur’an, 14: 40)

Challenge for today is to:
  1.       Constantly make dua for your children to be righteous Muslims, and any other goodness that you        want for them.
  2.       Learn the dua of Prophet Ibrahim.

Do these and keep them going during Ramadan.
