…(Allah) causes to grow for you the crops, the olives, the date-palms, the grapes and every kind of fruit…(Qur’an, An-Nahl 16:11)
Alhamdulillah, there are a variety of fruits available for us to eat during the whole year. Each one so delicious and healthy for us. We must make a habit of reaching for a fruit instead of some processed snack when we are hungry. When we do this our children will learn from our model and, insha Allah, will avoid the unhealthy snacks as well. For once we acquire a taste for the juicy fruits we would rather eat them than anything else. (It also helps if we don't stock up on the chips and biscuits!)
One way to get children to appreciate fruit is to grow them if you have the room. If you don't have a back yard then visit a farm that allows you to pick your own fruit.

Peaches in Autumn
Fuji Fruits (and apples) in Winter
Cherries in Spring
Another way to get children to appreciate fruit is to do a unit on it. I have an Allah Made Fruit Unit that I made a while ago available for you to download. In it you will find a simple 'Allah Made Fruits' booklet, Arabic fruit cards, activities for the date, fig, grape, olive and the pomegranade, plus a few other activities. There are a total of 37 pages. Enjoy and feel free to leave a comment.

Bananas (that's a banana flower underneath the bananas)
Mulberries (still a bit red at the moment)
A close up of the mulberries, they should be black.
